Publishing Policy

The terms for submitting, listing and selling your work through Miqra.

Miqra is a subsidiary owned by Tassel and registered under the laws of the Republic of Kenya. In these policies, ‘Miqra’, ‘we’ and ‘us’ refer to Miqra and Tassel as its operator.

This agreement applies to creators, authors and vendors who submit or sell digital works through Miqra. Read it alongside our Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy, Refund Policy and the terms agreed for your vendor account. If you do not accept these terms, do not submit or list work on Miqra.

Miqra is a selective marketplace for consequential ideas. Rootedness, Responsibility and Formation guide the catalogue. Foundational works express Miqra’s biblical and Apostolic foundation; Applied works offer aligned practical, intellectual and professional value. Authors of Applied works do not need to share Miqra’s beliefs.

1. Registration as a user

Create an account using accurate information and complete the steps made available through vendor onboarding. Keep your contact, identity and payout details current. Account registration alone does not approve a vendor, a listing or a work for publication.

2. Content submission

2.1 Ownership. You retain copyright, trademarks and other intellectual property rights in your work unless a separate written agreement states otherwise. If you are submitting on behalf of someone else, you must hold the necessary permission.

2.2 Platform licence. By submitting an approved work for sale, you grant Miqra a non-exclusive, worldwide licence limited to hosting, displaying, promoting, distributing and delivering that work as part of the service. This permits the use of supplied covers, descriptions and authorised previews for the listing. It does not transfer ownership to Miqra or override the revenue terms below.

2.3 Accurate submissions. Supply accurate authorship, subject, format, description, permitted-use and rights information. Upload only files you are authorised to provide. Do not misrepresent a sample as a complete work or promise an outcome the work cannot substantiate.

2.4 Review and delivery. Miqra may request clarification or revision, decline a submission or remove a listing that does not meet its policies. Material changes and replacement files remain subject to review. Digital delivery follows the approved listing and available service features.

3. Prohibited content

Do not submit material that infringes copyright, trademarks or other rights; unlawfully damages another person’s reputation; violates privacy; discloses confidential information without permission or another lawful basis; or is otherwise unlawful.

Miqra does not accept pornography, child exploitation, incitement to hatred or violence, racist or ethnically hateful material, or deceptive and harmful content. Use of another person’s name, likeness or trademark must not falsely imply their endorsement or confuse readers about ownership.

Editorial suitability is a separate requirement from legal compliance. A work must also meet Miqra’s standards of Rootedness, Responsibility and Formation. Popularity or revenue does not replace those standards.

4. Responsibility and indemnity

You are responsible for the content you submit and for securing the rights and permissions it requires. To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify Miqra, Tassel and their personnel against claims, losses and reasonable costs arising from your infringement of third-party rights or material breach of this policy. This clause does not exclude liability or rights that the law does not allow to be excluded.

5. Miqra’s rights and responsibilities

Miqra may review, request changes to, decline, suspend or remove content or listings that breach its policies. Creators remain responsible for their works. Miqra may change or discontinue service features, with appropriate notice where a material change affects users.

We aim to treat submitted works and private account information responsibly. No statement in this policy guarantees absolute security, prevents every unauthorised copy or promises that a submitted work will be accepted or will sell.

6. Payment and revenue sharing

6.1 Revenue split. The agreed split for eligible sales is 80% to the vendor and 20% to Miqra. The calculation details, applicable taxes or fees and payout eligibility are governed by the terms agreed for your vendor account.

6.2 Refunds. Miqra handles buyer refund requests under its Refund Policy. Approved refunds relating to your work are recovered from your vendor payout, with related balance adjustments reconciled under the applicable vendor terms.

6.3 Withdrawals. Use the withdrawal methods made available for your vendor account. Payout eligibility and processing time depend on the agreed terms, settlement, refunds and the payment provider.

7. Confidentiality and data protection

Keep confidential any non-public business, account or user information you receive through your relationship with Miqra. Do not disclose it without permission unless disclosure is required or otherwise permitted by law.

Use buyer information only for the authorised transaction and related support. Do not add buyers to unrelated mailing lists or share their information for another purpose without an appropriate lawful basis. Handle personal information in accordance with applicable Kenyan data-protection law and our Privacy Policy.

8. Privacy Policy

Our Privacy Policy explains the personal information processed in connection with Miqra, its purposes and how to contact us about your information. Review it before creating an account or submitting work.

9. Termination of user accounts

We may suspend or terminate an account or listing for a material breach of these terms, fraud or unlawful conduct. You may request closure of your account by contacting support. Closure does not remove outstanding payment, refund, confidentiality or other obligations, or lawful record-retention duties.

10. Dispute resolution

Disputes should first be raised with Miqra for negotiation. If negotiation fails, a dispute may be referred to arbitration before a sole arbitrator agreed by the parties. If the parties cannot agree on an arbitrator, either party may request the Chairperson of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Kenya Branch) to appoint one. The award is binding subject to applicable law and rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

11. Governing law

This policy and the relationship it governs are subject to the laws of the Republic of Kenya, as applicable during your use of Miqra. Nothing here removes protections that applicable law does not permit the parties to exclude.

12. Amendments and contact

We may update this policy and will post the revised wording on this page. Material changes will be communicated through appropriate account or contact channels. Questions about publishing, listing or these terms should be sent to support@miqra.si.
